DFW Trip (Day 4--The ZOO!)

Friday morning I checked out of the hotel with the kids (Jay had his last day of class so he wasn't with us during the fun times lol), got some more amazing breakfast at the best hotel we've ever stayed, and headed to Ft Worth to the zoo. I knew it would be super hot and humid, and I wasn't wrong. After the headache of FINDING the zoo and then parking a mile away despite getting there basically when it opened, we got in fairly quickly. And, of course, they both had to pee and Braden refuses to use the girls' bathroom. I got both of them taken care of and then realized, with horror, that I had left my phone in the stall. After frantically searching for about 3 minutes, I went to the customer service office and someone had turned it in. Yay!

So, crisis averted, right? WRONG.

The first exhibit we went to was the chimps. The kids are looking across the moat at the animals, I pull my phone from my back pocket to take a quick photo and...did I mention I had just put sunblock lotion and bug spray on all of us? Because that phone shot out of my greasy hand, ten feet in the air....and over the fence into the exhibit. We could see it, but we couldn't reach it. I had to go back to the front and tell someone to please get one of the zookeepers to get my phone out because I didn't want to end up on the news.

Ten minutes later, I got my phone back. Again.

We didn't walk the whole park since it was just me and the kids (YOU TRY IT!) and we were sweating like crazy! So we saw all the animals the kids REALLY wanted to see which took a couple of hours.

WHITE TIGER

TURTLES
FLAMINGOS

GIRAFFES

But, let's be real, the actual reason they wanted to be there was for the SPLASH PAD!!!!

They were less than thrilled when we had to leave to head back to Midland.
Especially the little one :(

DFW Trip (Day 3-- Part 2: Girls' Night!)

One of my favorite things about coming home is seeing my "framily" which is essentially my BFF's actual family LOL. Ashley and I met 15 years ago when we worked at a golf course (me in the kitchen and as "cart girl" and her in the pro shop). Pretty sure we got in "trouble" on the regular for talking too much when I should've been in the kitchen :p

Thursday night that week, we got to get together with everyone and hit up Gloria's in Arlington. It's never long enough, though, but we had an amazing time and laughed until my sides hurt.

I am so grateful I got to see everyone!

POOR CAROL W/HALF A FACE
(the waiter must have been angry with her :p )

HARD TO GET A SELFIE WHEN YOU'RE LAUGHING!

DFW Trip (Day 3-- Part I: LEGOLAND!)

Thursday morning we had our usual breakfast at the hotel and then, having placed my AdvoCare order that morning to take advantage of being in Dallas and free shipping (yessssss!), we drove out to Plano to the store there and picked up my goodies :)

After I got my energy (lol), we went up to Grapevine Mills to do some quick shopping and have lunch before meeting Maggie and Hugh at LegoLand!!!

Guess how many times they asked me when it was time to go to LegoLand????? Lord....I kind of understand why LegoLand makes you get reservations and schedule a specific time to enter the park but it sure is torture for the parentals :(

WAITING TO GO INSIDE

Finally, it was our time and Maggie and Hugh joined us as we entered through their little "Lego factory presentation".

WATCHING LEGO BRICKS BEING "MADE"

Then we went on our first ride, a little cart ride through a shooting gallery of Lego figurines. It was dark and we really sucked at killing the bad guys :p

They played in the playground area for awhile (this year, Landri was tall enough! yay!).

But they got bored pretty quickly and wanted to go off to their favorite thing: the flying bicycles!

WAITING...........

FINALLY!

The boys rode in front of me and my girl right behind them chasing after! Poor Landri's feet barely reached the pedals and my legs were too long so my knees kept hitting the bar so we never got to fly. Sad day...quickly made better by getting to play with Legos!!!!! She literally didn't move from this spot for like 20 minutes! She LOVES building with blocks.

Next, we took them over to the little motorized Lego cars and Maggie and I spent the majority of the time laughing so hard my stomach hurt because of Landri.

The above video was actually towards the end of their second time to drive. Bless. They were supposed to throw their hands up if they got stuck. Landri kept forgetting this and the worker (who got her unstuck for the 20th time) said just remember to throw your hands up if you get stuck (which she still hadn't been un-stuck from) and SHE THREW HER HANDS UP and Maggie and I died!!!!!! Oh, good times, good times...

Our last area to check out with Maggie and Hugh was the Landmarks of DFW display and OMGGGGG it was mindblowing! I just got a couple of shots but they had every major architectural landmark you could think of in the DFW area and then it would go from day to night and the skylines, etc would light up. So cool!

BALLPARK IN ARLINGTON
 AT&T STADIUM

Then Hugh and Maggie had to leave and pick up the rest of their crew and with Hugh's cast, he couldn't go to the splash pad area :( Next time, Hugh!!!!

We came to the splash pad before and they LOVE it, so I knew they would have a great time...and they did!

SHE LOVED THIS PIRATE!

FINALLY TIME TO GO!

And then we headed back to Addison so Mommy could go have dinner with the girls :)
